Think Pink Magic Windows
By Kelsey Jones Evens

Ever tried to create those pesky Attic Windows and had the dickens of a time with that darn ‘Y’ seam? Well no more! This magically made Attic Window is made with NO ‘Y’ seams! It is a high-speed creative block for any project that you need done swiftly,
but done with class and simplicity!
Kelsey will provide precut blocks for you to make. If you would like to, you may donate these blocks back to Kelsey for the Breast Cancer Foundation ‘Think Pink’ quilts that will be fashioned and auctioned in September. Please feel free to bring your own fabrics as well. You will need a focus fabric, a light and a medium or dark. Also if you have triangle rulers bring those. Finished block size depends on ruler sizes. Cutting board, rotary cutter, sewing machine and general sewing supplies are needed. Kelsey will have some templates available for you to use. If you have questions call Kelsey at 424-3519!

Potluck at noon with general meeting at 1PM
It has been suggested to bring a container with you to help out with left-overs.
Not everyone wants to take home their dish and eat it for several days.
A great way to enjoy our wonderful potlucks twice!

After the general meeting Kelsey will show those who have not taken the class how the Magic Attic Windows work.

Hostesses
Hostesses this month are Marlene Oswood, Jeanne Moorehead, Ruth Ward, Betty Neel & Kim Sime. Marlene will not be able to attend as the ‘Snow Bird’ is in Arizona. Jeanne will be on vacation with her hubby. If you would like to help out this month it would be appreciated. Please give one of the other girls a call. The Hostesses are responsible for getting coffee started; desserts, manning the sign in table as well as Chinese Auction and helping the workshop gal get her things in and set up. Also making sure things are put away at end of day. Thank you girls!

Hardanger Workshop by Marilyn Meinecke
Thank you, Marilyn, for your great class on Hardanger. The tables were full of eager learners!

Thanks from Dorothy Birch
‘Belated’ Thank You! Thanks, to my dear quilting friends for the lovely heart quilt. I wanted to take my ‘blankie’ for my overnight stay, but my son thought I was a little ‘too old’ for a ‘blankie’! It’s quite a shock to hear how only 20% of your heart is functioning. I am now the proud owner of a defibrillator and pace maker plus a stent in a 90% blocked coronary artery. I am thankful for all of you! God Bless you all! Dorothy Birch
We wish continued good health for you Dorothy!

Chinese Auction
The Chinese Auction had been going on for 2 years now. We wish to thank everyone who has donated to it and also to those who have had fun trying to win the items! We have a total of $751.90! Thanks to everyone!

Lottery block!
The lottery block is called ‘Amish Diamond’ by Marcia Hohn. This block is very simple and fast to make. In honor of ST Patrick’s Day please use greens. Make as many as you desire. The more you make the better your chances of winning them all! Have fun girls!

Comfort Quilt blocks
Cut out at least a 13” background, appliqué a heart shape using your favorite method and trim down to 12 ½”. Make as many as you would like. Give these to Carlene Davis or better yet if you make at least 12 heart blocks you could put an alternating 12 ½” plain print block with them, add a border and sew them together for her. If you don’t have that heart template make your own! Hearts come in all flavors and sizes! Thank you to everyone as we bring comfort to our members who are our friends.

2009 Naughty Row by Row Quilt- theme will be ‘HOME’
Ok girls. I have to say I was having a hard time being ‘Naughty’ as the bags were being passed. BUT with the latest bag that I received I nearly had a coronary! Talk about being ‘Naughty’! I no longer feel bad about being ‘a bit wicked’! Look out! I can hardly wait to show you this person’s rows at the meeting!

First round of the ‘theme home’ is in the bag! The second ‘coffee cup’ row should be done. The third row is ‘watering cans ‘also should be completed. Next you will be handing your bag to the name listed for March. The 4th pattern will be available for you to use or not to use! It is ‘Tulips’! Remember to work on the project as if it were your own quilt. (Note: even though this is a ‘row by row’ doesn’t mean your row can’t be a column, or a square or round or whatever……..uh-oh…juices going?) NOTE: PLEASE MAKE ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE PERSON YOU ARE TO PASS YOUR BAG TO IF YOU CANNOT MAKE IT TO GUILD MEETING! It just isn’t fair to the person who has to wait and then hurry up her row. THANKS! Now go have some fun girls!

2010 Raffle Quilt- Cabin Lights

Upcoming elections in June
I would like you all to be thinking about elections of officers and board members. We also need chair holders as well. If you have never held a position before, now is the time to do so. We will need someone with fresh ideas for Patterns Chair. I cannot be President, Newsletter Lady and be Patterns this next year. It may be too much for me to handle. I do have a folder of many ideas for anyone who is interested to use as a guide if you chose to be Patterns.
I have a Vice President who has agreed to help. Margaret McMullin will be filling that place. I will need a Secretary and a Treasurer. We will need to replace 2 Board members. We also will need new chairs for various projects. Margaret, Norma Jean Miller and I will be contacting you soon to see what areas you would like to help in. Remember you never work alone.
Carlene Davis is our 2010 Quilt Show Chair. She will need lots of help as the show is planned. We need your ideas and help in many areas for the show. Please say yes to her when she asks for assistance and quilts. It takes all of us working together to have a successful guild. One thing to remember is that no one works alone on any project. We all work as a group.
I will be presenting the areas needed to be filled at the March Meeting. Please be thinking about it! Our membership is the lowest it has been in many years due to our members moving, passing away and health issues! Even if you have held a position before do it again! We need each of you!
Thank you everyone! Jenny Schlutz
